The embattled governor of mo state Rochas Okorocha, had on Monday Aso Villa where he had a closed door meeting with the president of the federal republic, Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari in closed door meeting with Rochas Okorocha, Imo State Governor.

On interview with the state house media team, he disclosed that his visit was in the interest of the people of the Southeast region, his main aim being to recommend to the president that the leadership of the 9th Assembly should be ceded to the Ibos of the Southeast and to invite the president to commission his projects in Imo State.

The governor reiterated that the Ibos must not be treated with a "wave of the hand", time has come for the Ibos to be given an opportunity to head the affairs of the Senate/the 9th Assembly. The governor also said that the aim of his visit was to address the false declaration of Emeka Ihedioha as winner of 2019 gubernatorial election in Imo State, he emphasized that "Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha was declared by INEC in error".

When asked why he has not been given certificate of return by INEC, he said that "INEC will definitely issue him his certificate of return, that the election in Imo West Senatorial zone in which he was declared winner, was free and fair"

It should be recalled that on the 23rd of February 2019, INEC declared governor Rochas Okorocha winner of the Imo West Senatorial Zone but later refused to issue him a certificate of return due to speculations that he forced the returning officer for Imo West Senatorial zone to announce him winner.

The outgoing governor of Imo State insists that his certificate of return will be issued to him but he will be patient for the court of competent Jurisdiction to authenticate his victory.
