“The choice of Imo State was to show the party’s seriousness in winning the state during the election, and we have our governorship candidate there, Hon Emeka Ihedioha who is equally good.
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP says it is taking its south-east zonal presidential rally to Imo State which is considered the stronghold of its opponent, the All Progressives Congress as a challenge.
The party had earlier scheduled its rally in Enugu, but later put it off for a later date without reason.

Obaze also warned south-east governors who have been fingered as supporting President Mohammadu Buhari that if he(Buhari) was declared winner of the election, there was no assurance the Governors would win their own elections in the next election date, which is for the governorship and House of Assembly.
He said the Southeast Governors who are members of the party risk backlash from Ndigbo if the party loses in the zone during the presidential election.
According to him, “if they don’t work hard and our party loses, there will be a backlash from Ndigbo after the election, even if Buhari returns, there is no assurance they will win their own elections.
“It will be inimical if they work against their party PDP at the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi ticket after campaigning for their own offices,” Obaze said.
He said PDP would concentrate on issue-based campaigns, rather than hate speeches, fake news, thuggery and name calling.
