Nigerian Customs Hits Big against Tramadol, Rice Duty in Kaduna

Nigeria Customs Federal Operation Unit, Zone ‘B’ has made seizure of three cartons of Tramadol 255mg and 1,100 bags of foreign per boiled Rice Duty worth over N54million in Kaduna.

The Area Controller of the zone, Mohammed Sarkin Kebbi disclosed this in Kaduna while conducting newsmen round the seized items.
Controller Kebbi explains that, the three cartons of Tramadol were uncovered along Kaduna-Abuja road concealed in a truck conveying motor cycle spare parts.
He said the discovery was made based on intelligence gathering from good Nigerians, adding that each carton of the Tramadol has a market value of over Five million Naira for each carton with the total of over 15 Million Naira for the three cartons.
He further disclose that, Tramadol drugs which has serious negative effect especially in the northern part of the country which is being imported to the country in large quantities and called on well-meaning individuals in the society to always expose those enemies of the country.
In the same vein, the controller also informed that from the festive period December 2018 to January 2019, they have been able to seize 1,100 bags of smuggled per boil rice.
“10 vehicles were also intercepted with various smuggled goods while noting that the seizure is an important achievement to the Nigeria customs service in the FOU Zone ‘B’.
He emphasized that the Nigeria Customs Service is committed to always be the forefront of fighting the influx of fake drugs and prohibited items into the country.
“As an agency of the federal government, we will continue to contribute our quarter and do our best in preventing prohibited drugs from getting to the teaming youth.
“Tramadol is very expensive and it sells very fast because the criminals have been able to put the drugs into the market,” he stressed.
