Anxiety grips Ideato as killings, kidnapping take Centre Stage

The rate of killings and kidnappings within the communities that make up Ideato nation have become a source of concern as the community dwellers now leave in fear and sleep with their two eyes open over uncertainty of what would happen in the minute hence many have become victims of the unfortunate situation.

An indigene of Arondizuogu, Chioma Okonkwo, stated that several people have been kidnapped for ransom in the last few weeks within the area and wondered what could lead to such situation which according to her, has made the place unsafe.

Narrating the ugly situation, she hinted that the immediate past President General of Arondizuogu Progressive Union (APU), Mazi Uche Ohia, was reportedly ambushed and chased by a group of men in a brown jeep in the morning of Friday, Dec 14, along the bad road between Eke Ndianiche Uno and Ama Edward but he managed to escape.

According to her:

"Between Sunday and Monday morning, mayhem was unleashed on Arondizuogu and its environs as unknown men kidnapped people at Ogboko, killed a prominent female politician of PDP, Mrs Amaka Chukwu and drove through Arondizuogu toward Ikpa Ora."

A source from the area informed that the deceased who hails from Aluka Ogboza, Amanato autonomous community in Ideato South was murdered while returning from a political meeting at Nwabosi, a boundary between Amanato and Isiekenesi in the late hours of Sunday, 16th December, 2018.
